Delhi United Football Club registered their first win of I-League by defeating Lone Star by 3-0 in the match of the second division I-League at Ambedkar Stadium New Delhi on Tuesday.
Having never finished on winning side against their opponents, hosts Delhi United went in the match with the intent to register their first win of the season. They succeeded in both as Delhi side emerged winner by 3-0 in the match.
Muhammad Shahjahan scored first goal of the match for Delhi united in 18th minute while as Sunny Varun Thakur scored second in 29th minute. At half time Delhi United were leading by 2-0 goals.
In the second half, Lone Star went in with couple of changes but outcome still didn’t came their way as Delhi United went on to make it 3-0 in 71st minute. Rungsing Muinao was the scorer. After that no goal was scored and Delhi united won match by 3-0.
It is third loss for the Lone Star in this seasons I-League out of four matches played. They are almost out of contention to proceed into next round. Last year Lone Star had made it to main round.
