Hashim Amla doubtful for today’s match

The South African run machine Hashim Amla is doubtful for Sunday’s South Africa clash against Bangladesh in the ICC Cricket World Cup match at Oval.

Amla suffered a concussion in the 2019 World Cup opener against hosts England and there are speculations about him not being a part of the starting eleven against Bangladesh.

Another major setback for Proteas is Dale Steyn who was officially ruled out from the Oval clash on Saturday.

The ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 is turning into a tournament marred by injuries as the Proteas suffered a big blow ahead of their second game at the World Cup. The Proteas will not receive the services of speed merchant Dale Steyn, who has failed to recover from his shoulder bruise and will not feature in the second game against Bangladesh. The veteran speedster’s selection remained an uncertainty before South Africa’s second game at the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales and was officially ruled out from the Oval clash on Saturday.

According to ESPNCricinfo, the 35-year-old Steyn was not a part of the South Africa net practice on Friday. As per reports, Dale is still recovering from the shoulder knock he sustained while representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi will lead the pace attack of the Faf Du Plessis-led against Bangladesh on Sunday at Kennington Oval in London.

Either Dwaine Pretorius or Chris Morris are expected to be named in the starting eleven against Mashrafe Mortaza’s side along with Andile Phehlukwayo.

While Steyn didn’t attend the latest nets practice, South Africa opener Hashim Amla was also another household named in the list of absentees on Saturday. Amla suffered a concussion in the 2019 World Cup opener against hosts England is speculations about not being a part of the starting eleven against Bangladesh.

Amla with the bat was hit on the helmet by England pacer Jofra Archer in the fourth over during South Africa’s chase at the Oval. Amla made a valiant effort by returning to filed but failed to deliver the goods as England registered their first win in the opener by 104 runs. News agency Reuters reported that Amla was diagnosed with a mild concussion after being struck on the helmet. The 36-year-old had gone for a couple of tests prior to his return on the crease.
