Going to play World Cup not only vs India: Babar Azam on blockbuster clash

Srinagar: Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has said that Pakistan would be going to India for playing World Cup 2023 and not a match against India.

Babar said this while responding to a question during media interaction regarding high profile CWC 2023 clash.

“We are going to play World Cup not only against India. There are nine other teams as well with whom we have to play our respective matches,” Babar Azam said in response to a question.

“We will only be able to reach finals once we defeat all of them. Our focus is not on one team; our focus is on ten teams altogether. Our plan is to play equally good against all ten teams so that we can reach the finals,” he said.

Pakistan are scheduled to tour Sri Lanka for a two-Test series, which starts with the first Test on July 16 at Galle. The second Test is set to be played in Colombo on July 24.

In the same interaction replying to question over future of his captaincy, Babar said, “If we talk about the past, we didn’t play good cricket which is why we couldn’t win. We had some inexperience in our side because of few injuries, and when you cannot get 20 wickets, you cannot win matches”.

“And in Sri Lanka, the series was drawn, we didn’t lose. We will try to win this time around and as far as my captaincy is concerned, I am giving my best and this decision rests with the PCB. And if you would ask them, I think they can give you a better answer.”
