Srinagar, April 3: In the second semifinal of the Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket tourney being played at Islamia College turf wicket, GDC Anantnag defeated G D C Baramulla by 18 runs through super over on Sunday.

Before the toss the players of both the teams were welcomed by Dr. Altaf ur Rehman Director Physical Education Islamia College on the cricket turf of the college with other support staff also present on the occasion.

Anantnag college captain won the toss and invited the Baramulla team to bat first and restricted them to a total of 138 runs all out in 24.2 overs on a good batting strip with Mumin lone scoring 50 runs in 44 balls and Imran Nabi 38 in 26.

For Anantnag Owais Mohi ud Din and Shahid Khurshid took 3 wickets each. Chasing a target of 139 runs, Anantnag team scored 138 runs in 23.1 overs all out resulting the match ending in a tie. Wahid Zahoor scored 63 and Junaid Iqbal 48 for Anantnag team. Muntazim Bashir took 4 and Mudasir Dar took 3 wickets for Baramulla team. The match was decided in the super over to end the tie. Anantnag team scored 18 runs and in reply Baramulla team could not score any runs as such lost the match by 18 runs.Wahid Zahoor was adjudged the man of the match. The final of the tournament would be played between Hosts Islamia College and GDC Anantnag next week. The tournament is being organized by the Department of Physical Education Islamia College in memory of Prof. Mohammed Yousuf Saheb, ex principal of the college.
