‘For Ignoring Kashmir Players, Hockey J&K’s funds, screening withheld’

Secretary J&K State Sports Council Waheed ur Rehman Parra on Saturday said the Council has stopped funds and screening of players for the Hockey J&K over the allegations of discriminating with Kashmir based female hockey players.hockey

Female hockey players of Kashmir on Saturday continued their protest against Jammu based Hockey J&K over ignoring them for the upcoming senior women national championship.

“We will continue our protests against the association till we won’t get justice. Association officials have labeled us as beginners. One should question them why we represented State in national championship in year 2016. The open selection process would have made everything clear but they did not do that,” they said.

“We have been told by Council that funds and screening of Hockey J&K for the senior women national championship has been stopped. We want further action against them as Jammu based association should give fair chance to Kashmir players,” they added.

Parra said, “After getting complaints of discrimination I have directed my officials to conduct enquiry. Meanwhile I have also directed them to stop funding and screening of the team till the issue of inclusion of Kashmir based players in the team in not resolved. To say they are beginners is no excuse for skipping open selection process”.
