Doda, July 30: Friends Cricket Club (FCC) Ghat lifted the title trophy of All India 13th Gufran Memorial T20 Cricket Championship 2017 by thrashing Green Shaheen Cricket Club (GSCC) Doda by 06 wickets in the final match held at Sports Stadium Doda here today. 
The tournament was organized by Young Star Cricket Club Doda and sponsored by 10 Rashtriya Rifles Unit Doda, J&K Police, J&K Bank and Green Model Hr Sec School Doda.
Ex Home Minister Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy was the Chief Guest, Commanding Officer 10RR Col Mritunjay Upadhaya (SM) and SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir were the Guest of Honors while ADC Doda Mohd Hanief Shah, ACR Doda Tariq Hussain Naik, Vice President JK Bank Zonal Office Doda Khurshid Ahmed Fazili, District Information Officer Imran Naik, CMO Doda Dr Wajid Ali Najar, Tehsildar Doda Nasir Ali Natnoo, Sr Congress Leader Javed Iqbal Malik, Ex Chairman MC Doda Zaffar Ullah Rather, Dy SP Hqr Iftikhar Ahmed, Dy SP DAR Nazir Ganai, Dy SP Traffic Zohaib Hassan, 2IC 10RR Alok Partap Singh, Principal GMHSS Doda Om Parkash Chandail, Cluster Head JK Bank Ab Samad Mir were the Special Guests on the occasion.
Earlier after winning the toss, GSCC Doda opted to bat first and while batting they made 172 runs for the loss of 05 wickets in 20 overs. Abid Nabi top scored with 69 runs followed by Zahid Rasool who contributed 25 runs for the team. From FCC Ghat, Shampy Dagar scalped 02 wickets while Ankit Tomar, Rohan Rawat, Akash Antil shared 01 wicket each.
In reply, with the good start from opening batsmans, FCC Ghat team managed to chase down the stipulated target in 18 overs for the loss of 06 wickets. Hardeep Singh was the highest scorer who scored 75 runs while Rahul Redhu contributed 36 runs. From GSCC Doda, Nadeem Dar scalped 02 wickets while Abid Nabi, Nazir Malik and Rasik Dar shared 01 wicket each.
Hardeep Singh was later on declared as Man of the Match for his best batting performance with bat while as Abid Nabi of Green Shaheen Cricket Club Doda was declared as Man of the Series who was given cash prize of Rs 5000.
Meanwhile Chief Guest Former MOS Home Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy, Commanding Officer 10RR, SSP Doda, ADC Doda, ACR Doda, Vice President JK Bank Zonal Office and other guests distributed winners trophy to FCC Ghat with cash of Rs One Lac and five thousand and runners up trophy to GSCC Doda with cash of Rs 50,000.
Speaking on the occasion, Patron YSCC Doda Manzoor Batt said that considering the popularity of cricket among the youth, YSCC Doda took an initiative 15 years ago to organize such cricket events at Doda for the youth of J&K with the aim to encourage sports activities as well as to provide an opportunity to them to show their sporting talent.
CO 10RR Col Mritunjay Upadhaya while speaking to huge gathering in the award ceremony congratulates the winners over their magnificent win, described the Gufran Tournament as a land mark step towards promoting cricket, adding that cricket holds promise for youngsters and the day is not far when Doda Sports Stadium will provide star in this game.
SSP Doda and ADC Doda while speaking on the occasion appreciated the role of YSCC Doda for providing an opportunity to the local youth in exhibiting their talent in sports activities.

Pertinent to mention here that in this cricket tournament around 48 teams from different parts of the country participated in 13th Gufran Tournament.
