Kokernag Aug 21: The Department of Youth Services and Sports is committed to boost sports talent of School children and encourage them to the higher standards, this was stated by Director Youth Services and Sports Shiekh Fayaz Ahmed while speaking on the inaugural function of Divisional Level Inter District Tennis Ball Cricket Championship in the premises of Degree College here.
The 6-day long tournament is being organized for the boys of Under-17 age group. 10 teams from all the Districts of Kashmir Division are participating in the cricket extravaganza. Director YSS expressed his utmost joy on the conduct of such activity at a place which is treasured with natural beauty and beautiful landscape.
He said that though the visiting students have come here for a different purpose but such chance will surely help them in knowing the place more closely and it’s always great to be in the surroundings of Nature. Director Sports added that young and dynamic leadership of Molvi Imran Raza Ansari is taking the sports culture to the next level in the state of J&K and young blood is showing keen interest in games and sports. Fayaz also stated that enhancement in the food charges for the student players who take part in Divisional Level competitions will be taken up with the administrative department.
Bashir Ahmed, Joint Director Kashmir of the Youth Services and Sports Department made a special mention of the Kokernag College administration for their valuable coordination in the conduct of such activities in his speech. He stressed upon the field staff of the Department for taking utmost interest in involving school children in different sports activities.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Anantnag Noor ul Haq besides presenting welcome address shared the important information pertaining to the tournament on this occasion.
Chief Guest Shiekh Fayaz Ahmed along with other senior dignitaries handed over sports gears to the representatives of various schools of the District.
The inaugural ceremony of the tournament was also attended by Principal Government Degree College Kokernag, ZPEOs and other field staff of the Department.
