Director Sports and Physical Education, Islamia College, Srinagar Altaf ur Rehman has been awarded Ph.D in the field of physical education and sports.
He has been awarded doctorate vide Kashmir University notification No: F (Ph.D – Phy.. Edu)/Sec/KU/2016 Dated 25/6/2016. Altaf has completed his doctorate titled “Infrastructural facilities and performance in various sports events, a comparative study of J&K and Punjab” in an area in which no research has been undertaken in our state till date.
Under the supervision of veteran educationist Prof. GM Malik, the research scholar has made a comprehensive comparative study of the sports infrastructure available in the institutions of higher learning in the two neighboring states and the performance standings in sports competitions at the inter University level.
Based on this research study, as an experienced physical educationist of the state he has put forth a number of valuable suggestions for improving the sports infrastructure, training schedules and the performance levels of the student players under study in the higher educational institutions of the state, with emphasis on adventure training and tourism related programmes as well, which can provide much needed employability to the youth of the state.
