Director industries and commerce, Kashmir Bilal Ahmad Bhat on Saturday felicitated the cyclists Akber Khan and Parvaiz Ahmad for their performances in Mumbai-Pune and Satara cycling events.
International cyclist of Kashmir, Akber Khan recently bagged couple of positions in the professional cycling events held in Maharashtra. Another young budding cyclist Parvaiz Ahmad also bagged position in the event. The riders from Kashmir took part in two cycling events held in Maharashtra.
The director industries felicitated both riders with a trophy and cash prize of Rs 5000 and hailed their achievement in national circuit. The cyclists were felicitated in presence of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth secretary Arif Laigroo.
On the occasion Bilal also announced that his department would provide Akber registration for starting specific cycling unit wherein he would set up a cycling unit which can be turned into manufacturing one in future.
“It is great to see our boys doing well in cycling arena which is considered one of the toughest sport in the world. We hope they keep doing well in national arena and bringing more laurels for the state,” Bilal said.
He said that there is lot of scope and avenues in Industries sector for the promotion of adventure and leisure sports activity by helping educated talented youth to set up units.
