Cyclist Akbar aims for Track Inter-University gold

Srinagar: After bagging two gold medals in the All India Inter-University road national championship, top cyclist of Kashmir Mohammad Akbar Khan who playsfor TCI Max has set his aim on upcoming All India Inter-University track national championship.

The cyclist on Friday was selected by GNDU Amritsar where he is studying on sports quota for the upcoming event.

The Track All India Inter-University championship is scheduled to be held from November 15 to 18.akber-khan

Akbar is among the elite group of track national cyclists in Country. He last year attended the one-year long track cycling camp conducted by Sports Authority of India. During the camp he also represented Country in Asian cycling championship.

In the All-India Inter-University track event, Akbar is aiming to win atleast couple if gold medals.

“I am training hard for the event and the facilities and training schedule provided to us by GNDU is of top quality. The competition in track cycling event would be tough but our team is strong and we are expecting to sweep event,” Akbar said.

Director TCI Max, Waseem Trumboo has also hailed Akbar for qualifying the event.

“He has brought laurels for our State on many occasions and I am sure that he will keep our name shining in the upcoming event as well,” Waseem said.
