Amid huge pressure due to ongoing global pandemic of Coronavirus, hosts Japan and International Olympic Committee have agreed to postpone Tokyo Olympics 2020 to next year. It will be now Tokyo Olympics 2021 instead of 2020.
It was after Japan asked for a one-year postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Games over the global coronavirus pandemic, and the IOC agreed, this was announced by Japan’s Prime Minister on Tuesday.
“I proposed to postpone for about a year and president Bach responded with 100 percent agreement,” Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters referring to Thomas Bach, head of the IOC.
