Big Bash Seer: Shining Star Sopore beat WSA Wagub in a super over thriller

Seer Sopore, March 17: In the first pre-quarter final match of the ongoing Big Bash Cup Seer, today Shining Star Sopore defeated WSA Wagub in the super over to qualify for Quarter-finals.

Batting first, Shining Star scored a healthy total of 173/8 in alloted 20 overs. Tahir Showkat played a brilliant knock of 83 runs while as Fayaz added 22 runs. For WSA, Zahid took 3 while as Saqib Dar took 2 wickets.

In reply, WSA Wagub fought hard and looked set to win the match in the last over as they needed just 1 run of 3 balls with 3 wickets in hand but the match turned on its head as Wagub lost 3 wickets in 3 balls due to run-outs, thus taking the match to the super over(173/10 in 20 overs). Ishfaq and Parvaiz scored 38 and 33 runs respectively for Wagub. Aijaz took 3 wickets for team Shining Star

In the super over, WSA only managed to score 5 runs in the super over(5/1) as Shakir bowled a brilliant super over. Shining Star in response chased down the target of 6 runs in just 3 balls to get over the line(7/0).

Tahir Showkat was declared as player of the match for his brilliant batting performance.
