‘Biased selection’, ‘Jammu dominance’: Social Media abuzz after J&K U-19 team’s dismal show

Srinagar, September 30: The people on social media showed dismay with J&K U-19 team’s performance in their opening match of Vinoo Mankad Trophy on Thursday.

Majority used ‘Biased selection’ and ‘Jammu dominance’ comments to express their disappointment with the team. J&K were outplayed by Vidarbha as the match was reduced to 20 overs due to rain.

Batting first, J&K were bundled out on meagre 104 runs in 18.2 overs. Arya Thakur and Ranjot Singh were the only batters to score in double-digits. Vidarbha, in response, chased down the total comfortably in 17.4 overs with 7 wickets in hand.

Soon after the match started, people showed concern with the playing XI, questioning whether ‘it is Jammu XI or J&K’ as only three players from Kashmir division appeared in the playing XI.

“Really unfortunate moment for Kashmiri cricketers, being ignored by biased and corrupted selectors.
This should not happen 😭,” wrote Manzoor Mir.

“This is not j@k team but jammu team……shame for selectors,” wrote another social media user, Fayaz Ahmad Faiz.

“Seems jammu U19 , Rather j&k,” commented Khan Ayaar.
