During recent Sports Conclave conducted by J&K State Sorts Council among other notable stars who were given snub during award ceremony was star cricketer Abid Nabi.
In the conclave Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti awarded various sportspersons but now the questions are been raised about the policy implemented by council in choosing the persons who were awarded.
While there is question mark on whole process but the young cricketers are raising the particular case of a snub to Abid Nabi.
Abid Nabi is sports council junior coach and was present during the ceremony alonwith the State Cricket Academy trainees. While Manzoor Pandav who was picked for IPLK team and didn’t got a single match to play was awarded, Abid Nabi’s name was not even mentioned.
The treatment metted out to star cricketer Abid Nabi has not gone well with his trainees and they have termed it ‘hurtful’.
“It looked like a cruel joke and we couldn’t hold our emotions when we saw such a snub. He is our star, our pride who has made J&K proud on multiple occasions,” said a young player.
Abid Nabi first cricketer from Kashmir to have represented Country in Junior International. He played for India in Under-19 match against England. He is joint fastest to 100 wickets in Ranji trophy. He is the player who played in 17 ICL matches that was big thing before the start of IPL.
“We were unable to understand when a council can award a cricketer who has not played single Ranji match and not a single IPL match then why was Abid Nabi given a snub. He is their own employee and he deserved it most,” said another player.
