While the custodians of the game (Winter Games Association of J&K) are busy in organizing events like Snow Kayaking (for their own benefit) at Gulmarg it is the traditional events like Alpine Ski Racing that are getting slow death. Our International alpine skier expresses it in these words on his facebook post.
“I am continually trying to keep this sport of (Alpine Ski Racing) alive in Kashmir, otherwise it is over by now, people are finding it too difficult to experience it professionally because it takes more than hard work to touch the absolute level of doing it internationally,” said Internal Alpine Skier Arif Khan.
Although he has not mentioned anything about the snow kayaking or association it is the known fact that Association is not doing anything.
At the time when they should start organizing skiing events they have announced coaching camp for Snow Kayaking at Gulmarg.
“It should have been skiing event instead of this wastage of time event. It seems the event will benefit some persons who sits inside the Association while as skiers get nothing. We have no problem with it but they should not prioritize it. They could have held it for Tourism promotional anytime. But at present priority should be skiing, snowboarding and other coaching events of skiing,” said a former skier wishing anonymity. (KSW Network)
