Srinagar: International cyclist of Kashmir, Mohammad Akber Khan who plays for TCI max and represented Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) went on to make history on Sunday as he bagged gold medal in the ongoing All India Inter-University cycling event held at GNDU, Amritser.
He is the first ever cyclist hailing from J&K State to bag medal in All India level Inter-University cycling event. Akber representing GNDU where he has got admission on sports quota lead his team from the front in 60-kilometre event. The team according Akber was trailing by 25 seconds in first 25-kilometre and then coming from behind went on to win the event. The tight competition for the top spot was between Kuruskshetra University, Punajbi University and Bikaner University.
Director Sports GNDU, HS Randhwa and Director TCI Maxi Waseem Tramboo have hailed Akber for the win. Akber is the only double national gold medalist in cycling from State. He is also first ever cyclist from J&K to take part in International event.
