Afreen wins silver at 63rd National School Games

Afreen Haider of Class 12th of Delhi Public School (DPS) has bagged the silver medal in the 63-kg weight category in Taekwondo Martial Arts at the 63rd National School Games 2017-18 held in Kannur Kerala.Afreen DPS

In the event 40 teams from across the Country including 29 States and other welfare, SAI and board teams, participated in the games. She emerged as the runner up in the finals losing to Haryana (6-4) round first (6-6) in round second and (4-2) in third round, ending the tournament with a win loss ratio of 4-1. She has also secured a berth in the trials for the upcoming world school games 2017-18, to be held in Australia this year. She is the only one from the state to win a medal in the tournament.

DPS management has hailed her for the stupendous effort, and wished her the best in all her future endeavours. The school Chairman has promised to extend every kind of help that the school can provide, since it is a reflection of the effort that it has put in establishing, and nourishing local talent.
