SRINAGAR: Friday saw as many as eight matches played in State Cricket Academy T-20 Championship across various districts of the state.
In Srinagar district fixture, Kashmir Tigers beat Sangam Cricket Club by eight wickets in what was run-fest of an encounter. Batting first, Sangam Cricket Club posted a mammoth score of 188 for the loss of six wickets. Kashmir Tigers showed great character with the bat, scaling down the target in the 20th over. Basharat was the star of the successful chase that won him the man of the match award.
Over in Chenab Valley leg of the fixture, Masood Cricket Club beat Warriors by 57 runs. Batting first, Masood CC couldn manage just 116, but were impressive with the ball to limit Warriors to a nothing 59. Abid Mushtaq was declared man of the match for his all-round show.
In the second game of District Chenab fixture, Manhas Cricket Club beat Ramban by 29 runs. Asked to bat first, Manhas Cricket Club made 166 and then restricted Ramban to 137 to make it to the other round. Akshay for his undefeated 61 was chosen man of the match.
Over in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, Sonawari XI beat PCC plan by 26 runs in the first quarter-final. Sonawari XI amassed a massive score of 184 for the loss of four wickets and then gave a good account of their bowling resources to restrict PCC Plan to 158. Hard hitting batsman Manzoor Pandaw was chosen man of the match.
Baramulla district fixture saw Varmul XI beat Kandi XI by two wickets thanks Aqib’s all-round show. Batting first, Kandi XI posted a competitive score of 154 on the board which was chased down by Varmul XI losing eight wickets. Aqib took three wickets and scored vital 27 to walk away with the man of the match award.
