Srinagar: Pakistan Cricket Board is unlikely to take action against star pacer Haris Rauf for refusing to tour Australia as part of Pakistan Test squad.
PCB Director Media, Aalia Rasheed, in an interview, confirmed that Haris Rauf will be considered for the upcoming limited overs series against New Zealand.
“Wahab Riaz is a chief selector, he did a very good press conference. He is very confident and the best thing he said was if a player isn’t available for Pakistan, then it isn’t a good thing. We will tell them clearly that they are not just here to play the leagues, yes they should play them it is their right, but whenever you’re called for Pakistan, you should participate. It is kind of an injustice that you are part of central contracts and then say that we will play matches of our choice,” Rasheed said.
Meanwhile former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has said that Haris Rauf shouldnt have opted out.
“Haris Rauf wasted the opportunity and he should have travelled to Australia with the Pakistan team. Strangely, the player is refusing to be added to the squad despite requests from the Director of Cricket and Chief Selector,” said Afridi.
