Srinagar: Former Cricketer Shahid Afridi and Waqar Younis have lashed out at persons who have leaked Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s WhatsApp messages.
On a show a ARY Channel, host Waseem Badami displayed the private WhatsApp message of Babar Azam with PCB CEO Salman about him calling PCB Chairmain and later not taking his calls.
During the show itself former cricketer Azhar Ali who was one of the panelist questioned about the ethics of displaying private messages.
“Did they take Babar’s permission before forwarding the message to him?” Ali asked while pointing towards the journalist who shared the chat with the channel’s team.
The Test cricketer also asked if Babar’s consent was taken before displaying the alleged message on air, as it was a “personal message”.
The journalist, however, defended his act saying that it is his “job” to run something when received. “He did not send the personal message to me.”
Meanwhile Shahid Afridi has termed the act as Ghatiya (Disgraceful).
“Sorry to say, but this is a (Ghatiya Harkat) disgraceful act. You don’t do that. You don’t defame your own country. You don’t defame your own players. How can you leak someone’s private messages? That too of our captain, Babar Azam?” Afridi questioned.
“Waseem Badami is saying that the chairman asked him to leak the conversation? What kind of act is this? Even if the chairman has committed this act, then I am sorry to say, but it’s extremely disgraceful,” he further added.
Afridi Later Tweeted a massage on X, ”
“If our hearts genuinely beat with cricket and we are really a passionate cricket following nation, then don’t we all deserve much better – both on and off the field?”.
Former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis aldo took to his social media platform and expressed his strong disapproval which can be roughly translated as,
“What are you trying to do? This is pathetic! Are you happy now? Please leave Babar Azam alone. He’s an asset to Pakistan Cricket,” Waqar wrote on X.
