Srinagar: Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has termed rankings as overrated and said that the real No.1 is the one who wins matches.
Talking to Star Sports, Gambhir criticised Babar’s performances in the ongoing World Cup 2023 saying that the 29-year-old didn’t play any impactful innings in the tournament.
“Babar Azam hasn’t played any impactful inning. Records and rankings are overrated. The real No.1 is the one who wins matches,” said Gambhir.
The former Indian cricketer went on to talk about the fitness of Pakistan side saying that there is a “great difference” between them and the other nine teams in the World Cup.
“First thing that Pakistan needs to work after the World Cup is their fitness — there is a huge difference between Pakistan and other nine teams in the fielding,” he added.
