Srinagar: Rajasthan Royals youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed IPL records books as he scored fastest ever IPL fifty on Thursday at Eden Gardens Kolkata.
Jaiswal scored fastest half-century in the history of the Indian Premier League as he reached the landmark off just 13 balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders at. The previous IPL record was jointly held by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins who had scored fifty off 14 deliveries.
Chasing a150-run target , Yashasvi wreaked havoc on the Knight Riders as he smashed their captain Nitish Rana for 6, 6, 4, 4, 2, 4 in the first six balls of the innings.
Even as Royals lost the important wicket of Jos Buttler in only the second over, the opener was unfazed as he continued on his aggressive approach.
In fact, Jaiswal reached the record-breaking half-century mark in the very next over of the chase, smashing Shardul Thakur for a hat-trick of fours. He hit seven fours and three sixes en route to his fifty.
Rajsthan won the match by nine wickets, achieving target in 13.1 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 98 runs from 47 balls in which he hit 5 sixes and 12 fours.
