Srinagar, February 21: “As far as IPL is concerned, I firmly believe I have done nothing,” Abdul Samad, a promising young cricketer from J&K, said in an interview with New Indian Express.

The 20-year-old struck a fiery 68-ball hundred against Pondicherry on Saturday to help J&K start Ranji Trophy on a winning note. Termed as a youngster who can make it big, Samad hasn’t had a blast in his first two seasons of IPL.

However, showing faith in his talent, Sunrisers Hyderabad retained him at INR 4 crore ahead of the upcoming IPL season. Talking about his journey in the cash-rich league, Samad admitted he needed to come up with good performances.

“With my ability, I have to come up with lot of good performances. And I’m not trying to put pressure on myself, but I believe I could contribute a lot more. Playing IPL alone is not enough. Which is why I say, I have not done anything. I will try to make this year big.” The right-handed batter remarked.
