Srinagar, Sept 30: Former Indian cricket team all-rounder and J&K senior cricket team mentor Irfan Pathan has hailed J&K youngster Abdul Samad’s debut in Indian Premier League for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Samad on Tuesday became third cricketer from J&K to play in IPL. He got his debut against Delhi Capitals and impressed everyone with his power thought he only faced seven deliveries. He scored 12 off seven balls in which he hit one big six.

Samad was fast tracked into J&K senior side with the backing from Irfan Pathan. After seeing him in nets and doing well for J&K junior sides, Pathan who is J&K mentor backed the youngster and groomed him till he started to deliver this season for team in Ranji Trophy. He was later picked by Hyderabad franchisee for thier side.

Taking to Twitter Pathan hailed the debut of Samad and said that he is certain his playing will create positive waves in J&K younger generation.

“Another feather added to Jammu & Kashmir’s cricketing fraternity as Abdul Samad is all set to make his ipl debut.I wish him the luck for his long career ahead! I am certain,this will create positive waves in J&K’s younger generations; who will look upto this upcoming Hero!, ” He Tweeted.

Later, replying to JKCA’s representative at BCCI, Ranjeet Kalra, Pathan said all credit goes to Samad for reaching where he is today.

“All credit to him. Hum sirf zariya the,” He tweeted.
