Life has come full circle for Pakistan premier pacer Mohammad Amir who shamed himself and his Country with the spot-fixing incident at Lords in 2010 and now at same place fans shouting chants of Amir…Amir.
After nine long years and serving ban of five years from professional cricket, Mohammad Amir was back at same venue representing Pakistan at biggest stage of Cricket, ICC Cricket World Cup. This time instead of shaming his Country he bowled his heart out and lead team to crucial win against South Africa to stay alive in the tournament.
Amir who was late pick in the squad, has been brilliant in the whole tournament for Pakistan and is currently leading wicket-taker in the event. His heroics with the ball has won hearts of fans, with them chanting his name whenever he comes on to ball. Lords was no different with fans chanting his name.
“9 years on from that dark day at Lord’s for Mohammad Amir. Thousands at the same ground are now chanting “Amir, Amir, Amir, Amir,” tweeted Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq.
“Mohammad Amir has had such a heck of a journey in his life and everything he has been through, you can’t help but feel pleased for him and he’s bowling particularly well at present,” cricket commentator Mark Nicholas was quoted as saying. Mohammad Amir is joint highest wicket-taker in the World Cup with Jofra Archer and Mitchell Starc. All three have 15 wickets, but Mohammad Amir has played one match less than Archer and Starc.
