The fourth edition of the Downtown Champions League, a franchise-based Twenty20 tournament, will take place this season after a two year gap, founder and CEO of Downtown Champions League Naseer Bhat informed . Speaking to KSW he informed about the preparations taking place for the extravaganza tournament which was the first of its kind in J&K State and said that this year DCL 2018 will begin with a totally different format.
He said that valley is witnessing huge rush of tournaments but DCL has its mark of quality. Majority of the cricket tournaments played in Kashmir are either played on mat or grass, DCL was the only tournament played on turf, with third umpire facilities. Without naming anybody Mr Naseer further said that many people are using name of DCL to woe sponsors which he said is totally un-ethical “we don’t know these people who are using my name and of DCL for starting their own leagues, If they call me first I will definitely help them for the sake of cricket but using DCL and my name without informing me is very unethical”.
The total number of franchises participating in the event will be confirmed after the completion of the tender process which will begin next month.
