37th National Games: Saliq wins first gold medal for J&K in Pencak Silat 

Srinagar: In remarkable performance, Saliq Farooq has bagged first gold medal for J&K in the ongoing 37th National Games 2023 in Goa on Sunday.

Saliq Farooq bagged first gold medal of the games for J&K in Pencak Silat martial art discipline. He bagged first place in Tanding 65-70 kilogram mens category.

With this Gold medal, J&K has jumped to 21st place in the medal table. J&K currently has got six medals in the games which include one gold in Pencak Silat, 2 silver medals in Gymnastic, one silver in Pencak Silat, one bronze in Netball and one bronze in Pencak Silat.

Overall Maharashtra leads medals tally with 90 medals, Haryana second with 34 and Services third with 23.

“It is great achievement for the J&K as we have bagged first Gold medal of the games. We expect more medals and that is likely going to push J&K up the order in the medals tally,” said Pencak Silat Association official.
