Srinagar: The 23rd state Thang-Ta Championship started at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex on Saturday.
On the first day of the tournament, sub-junior girls bouts were played.
Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Waheed-Ur-Rehman Para was chief guest on the occasion. In his interaction with the participating players, he announced establishment of full-fledged Thang-Ta academy
in Srinagar. He also assured full support and co-operation to the Thang-Ta Association for promotion of the game.
Later, Para distributed special prises among the outstanding girl Thang-Ta players, Shah Anisa Shabnam, Ishrat Rafiq, Kounsar Jan, Anjum Farooq, Iqra Hafeez and Saima Jan.
The Championship is being organised by J&K Thang-Ta Association and is sponsored by J&K State Sports Council. The closing ceremony of the Championship is on 13th of December 2016.
