An Assam youth has been arrested by local police for wearing Pakistan jersey. The man was seen wearing a Shahid Afridi jersey, was taken into custody after a complaint by the youth wing of BJP. Subsequently, a FIR under section 120 (B), 294 of the Indian Penal Code was filed against him.
“Assam youth, a Shahid Afridi fan arrested for wearing Pakistan Jersey after a complaint by youth wing of BJP. FIR registered u/s120(B),294 IPC.”
Similar incident occured in Pakistan last year. A Virat Kohli fan, Umar Diraz, was arrested cheering for India and raising an Indian flag over the top of his house. The locals were not pleased by his antics and immediately informed the police who arrested him. Upon inspection, it was revealed that he turned out to be a Kohli fan and had posters of the Indian Test skipper all over his residence.
This incident happened on January 26. The police said that it was “against the ideology of Pakistan”. Draz, a tailor by profession, was produced before a district court and was sent to jail on judicial remand. He was later sentenced to 10 years in jail.
He is out on the bail at the moment.
