Pakistan batting legend and newly appointed batting coach Younis Khan has revealed what suggestions he used to give out of favour hardworking left-hand batsman Fawad Aalam.

Younis Khan while speaking to reporters via teleconference, said that to keep Fawad motivated for Pakistan selection he used to give Misbah ul Haq’s example.

“I always cite the example of Misbah to Fawad, I said him to look at the age of 37 Misbah got the captaincy and retired at the age of 46, he ended his career on a high note,” Younis said.

“Moreover, I guide him that as a player, it is your duty to perform and work on your fitness, whether it is for domestic, franchise, or club cricket,” he suggested.

Former Pakistan skipper further said that now he is part of the management, so he will try to work with Fawad as much as he can. He also hoped that Fawad will achieve his goals.

On former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed’s selection, he backed that the wicket-keeper must be in the team for England series.

“Sarfaraz should definitely be in the England series as he has improved his fitness and has also performed in England on the previous tours. If the main wicket-keeper is Rizwan, then the wicket-keeper on the bench is the former captain of the team,” he maintained.
