“Yorker is the first delivery I learnt … used to watch Wasim, Waqar…”: Jasprit Bumrah

Srinagar: Team India pace ace Jasprit Bumrah has said that Yorker was first delivery he learn to bowl after watching likes of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Zaheer Khan.

On Monday, Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah claimed three wickets apiece as India levelled series by winning second Test by 106 runs against England.

Bumrah, who picked up a six-wicket haul, opened up about the beaming inswinging yorker, which got rid of Ollie Pope, who looked well-settled at 23, coming off his match-winning 196-run knock in Hyderabad Test.

“As a youngster, yorker is the first delivery I learnt and that’s the only way I thought, I could pick wickets. I used to watch Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Zaheer Khan,” Bumrah said.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Waqar responded to a user’s question on if the ball delivered by Bumrah to Pope reminded him of anyone, Waqar replied, “Can’t think of anyone Hemant. Bumrah’s Magic.”
