Pakistan, who are being touted as one of the dark horses in the showpiece event, bounced back in a terrific manner to prove why they are one of the most unpredictable sides in world cricket. Sarfaraz Ahmed’s men stunned the hosts in a close contest to win the game by 14 runs after both the batsmen and the bowlers produced a combined effort to outclass Eoin Morgan & Co.

Pakistan rode on half-centuries from Babar Azam (63), Mohammad Hafeez (84) and skipper Sarfaraz (55) to post a strong total on the board before the bowlers did a tremendous job to restrict England 14 runs short of the target. Hafeez was the star with the bat for Pakistan as he top-scored for his side with a brilliant 84 off 62 balls laced with eight fours and two sixes. He was ably supported by Babar and Sarfaraz, who scored 63 and 55 runs respectively.
