Women’s One Day Trophy: Bowlers guide J&K to narrow victory over minnows Sikkim

Srinagar, Jan 23: Bowlers led by talented seamer Sarla Devi powered Jammu and Kashmir to a narrow win over minnows Sikkim in Senior Women’s One Day Trophy at CAP Ground-4, Puducherry today.

Chasing a modest target of 110 runs for victory, Sikkim bundled out for paltry total of 90 runs in 47.1 overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 19 runs. Yuden top scored with 29 runs off 126 balls with 5 boundaries, while Dikcha contributed 13 runs to the total.

For J&K, medium pacer Sarla Devi was the pick of the bowlers who bagged 3 important wickets by conceding 17 runs in her 10 overs, while skipper Sandhya Sayal, Nadia Chowdhary, Rubia Syed and Ananaya Sharma claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K bundled out for paltry meagre 109 runs in 48.5 overs. Rifat Chowdhury top scored with 20 runs, while Shivanti Gupta scored 16 runs. Skipper Sandhya Sayal, Nadia Chowdhary and Ananaya Sharma contributed 13 runs to the total respectively. Ananaya remained unconquered, while Bushra Ashraf also contributed 10 runs to the paltry total.

For Sikkim, Pranila was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 3 important wickets by conceding 20 runs in her 7 overs. Skipper Pranita was most economical and took 2 wickets by conceding just 9 runs in her 10 overs, while Leeza, Tabiyat and Purni claimed one wicket each.
