With ‘Heavy Heart’ Naseem Shah shares emotional message for fans after missing on World Cup 2023

Srinagar: Pakistan on Friday announced squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 squad with star young pacer Naseem Shah missing out due to injury.

Soon after Inzamam ul Haq announced the squad, Naseem Shah shared a emotional post on X (Twitter).

“With a heavy heart, I’m sharing that I will not be part of this amazing team that will be representing our beloved country. While I’m disappointed, I believe everything is in Allah’s hands. InshahAllah will be on the field very soon. Thank you to all my fans for the prayers,” Naseem Shah posted on X.

Naseem Shah injured himself during his team’s Super Four encounter against India in the Asia Cup, and is set to miss plenty of action in the upcoming months.

His loss is a major blow to the Pakistan side, given his capability to get the ball to zip around. He also has an exceptional ODI record, with 32 wickets at an average of 16.96 with two five-fors in ODI cricket.

Naseem was replaced by Hassan Ali in the squad.

Pakistan’s World Cup squad: Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan (vc), Fakhar Zaman, Imam Ul Haq, Abdullah Shafique, Mohammad Rizwan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Agha Salman, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Usama Mir, Mohammad Wasim Jr .

Traveling Reserves: Abrar Ahmed, Zaman Khan, Mohammad Haris.
