Former Pakistan cricket team skipper and sultan of swing, Wasim Akram has said that former Pakistan skippers Imran Khan and Javed Miandad used to say this boybis special when I was new in team.
“When I was new to the team, I’d listen to Imran Khan & Javed Miandad saying ‘this boy is special’. So when I asked them what’s so special about me? They said ‘my pace is deceptive & I swing the ball’. It was amazing playing for my country alongside my idols, ” Akram said.
Akram also said that he doesn’t judge bowlers on the basis of T20 performance.
“T20 cricket does not make bowlers. When I used to play, it was 6 months playing for the national team & another 6 months playing for your county or domestic team. Youngsters need to play more First-Class cricket to learn the art of bowling”.
“T20 is amazing, good entertainment and there’s plenty of money involved in it. But I don’t judge bowlers on the basis of their T20 performances. I judge performances on the basis of seeing how they fare in the longer format”.
