Srinagar: Scenarios are clear and each and every team now knows what they need to qualify for the final of Asia Cup 2023.
While Team India has cruised into final, Sri Lanka and Pakistan qualification depend on last group match. Bangladesh are already out of contention. Amid all that all eyes would be on weather.
The Pakistan vs Sri Lanka must-win match is on Thursday in Colombo.
The winner of the crucial Super 4 clash will qualify for the final of the event, where they will face India on September 17.
However, rain is likely to play spoilsport during the Pakistan- Sri Lanka and the other remaining matches of the event.
According to The Weather Channel, there are 86 percent chances of rain on September 14 in Colombo which would affect the Pakistan-Sri Lanka match.
If rains forced abandonment of match, Sri Lanka will make it to final on better net run rate basis.
After Pakistan’s 228-run defeat against India, their NRR fell to -1.892. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka have an NRR of -0.2.
The trophy will be shared if the final of the Asia Cup 2023 is also washed out on September 17. The final also has a reserve day.
