Wasim Jaffer terms Babar Azam the next big thing in world cricket

Babar Azam

Srinagar, April 17: Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer Thursday termed Pakistan’s Babar Azam as the next big thing in the world cricket.

Jaffer said he rates Babar as the fifth best batsman of current age, following the fab-four of Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root and Kane Williamson.

Talking about the Pakistan cricketers who influenced him in an interview with Cricgif, Jaffer said, “In the current line-up, Babar Azam is the next big thing in world cricket along with those top four players Virat, Smith, Williamson and Joe Root. I think (Babar) is number five in my list. I like Asad Shafiq quite a lot—he is a very fine player but he has not performed to the level that he should have done.”

Wasim recently hung his boots after a stellar 25-year-long career. He was one of the unluckiest cricketers as he couldn’t play much of the international cricket.
