Pakistan Chief selector has said that Wahab Riaz’s experience worked in his favor for the inclusion into the Pakistan World Cup squad.
Pakistan on Monday made three changes to the preliminary squad announced earlier. Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz and Asif Ali were included at the expense of Abid Ali, Faheem Ashraf and Junaid Khan.
“Wahab Riaz has experience, he can bowl with the old ball and reverse it. He’s a senior bowler also and we felt that our bowlers are lacking experience a bit, so we included him,” Inzimam said.
It will be after two year gap that Wahab would be returning to Pakistan ODI squad. In April 2018 – Mickey Arthur while talking about Riaz had said, “ Wahab Riaz has not won us a game in two years”. But now on Monday Wahab Riaz has been called-up to the World Cup squad as Pakistan now need a senior bowler with experience.
