Srinagar, December 29: The Jammu and Kashmir U-19 men’s cricket team on Wednesday continued its poor form as they lost to Baroda by 7 wickets in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy 2021-22, ending tournament with just one point under their tally.
After being invited to bat first, J&K once again got bowled out cheaply for paltry 31 runs in the first innings. Jugjap Singh was the top scorer with 30 runs to his name. Raj Limbani took a five-wicket hual for Baroda while as Karan Umatt took 4 wickets.
Unlike the batters, the J&K bowlers fought hard and bowled out Baroda for 205 runs in their first innings. Dhruv Singh Parmar took 4 wickets while as Basit Bashir bagged 3 wickets for J&K. Skipper Harsh Desai was the top-scorer for Baroda with 52 runs to his name.
Conceding the lead of 74 runs, J&K in their second innings batted positively and declared the innings at 223/9 in 46 overs, setting a target of 150 runs for Baroda.
Akshit Gandral played a brilliant knock of 80 runs off 69 balls while as Jasbir Singh scored quick-fire 32 runs off 26 balls. For Baroda, this time Karan Umatt took a five-wicket hual and Raj Limbani scalped 3 wickets.
In response, it was a cake-walk for Baroda as they chased down the target easily, loosing only 3 wickets (150/3 in 39.5 overs). Captain Harsh Desai once again played a brilliant knock of unbeaten 82 runs off 124 balls.
This was J&K’s fourth defeat in the tournament. They ended at the bottom of the table with just one point to their name, thanks to the one draw they played against Pondicherry.
