
Srinagar: The first ever official football played under the floodlights at Synthetic turf TRC ground Srinagar on Tuesday was called off due to ‘technical fault’ in the lights.
J&K Football Association hosted its first ever official premier division match under floodlights at TRC on Wednesday as part of the ongoing annual football league.
The match was played between AG’s-XI and Kashmir Maharaja Sports and it had to be called off in second half due to floodlight failure.
“It was the first ever official match played under floodlights at TRC and the spectators cherished the moments. However, unfortunately there was a power break down repeatedly because of a technical fault. The match was called-off and could not be completed. Ag’s-XI was leading by one goal when match was called –off,” read JKFA statement.
The high end floodlights were inaugurated last month in a high profile function with exhibition match played. The match some of the high profile former Indian football team players who were invited by J&K State Sports Council for the inauguration and exhibition match. Even during that match there were couple of interruption due to breakdown of lights but the match was not abandoned.
While inaugural match was unofficial exhibition match, the first official match played under lights in Kashmir was called on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Fortview FC clashed with Jahangir Sports in the Super Division match. In the match, Jahangir Sports defeated Fortview FC by 5-1 goals.
