Srinagar, Oct 1: Department of tourism Kashmir Saturday gave a warm send off to Naseer Ahmad who retired as Officer in-charge of the Adventure Sports Wing of the department.
In this connection, a simple but impressive farewell function was organized here at Hotel Heemal to honor him for his services and dedication to the department.
Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah presidedover the superannuation ceremony for Naseer which was also attended by the employees of the department.
Naseer had joined the department in 1987 and after seeing his keen interest and expertise in adventure tourism, he was handed over the in charge of department’s dedicated adventure wing.
Given the fact that Kashmir offers huge potential for adventure tourism, Naseer left no stone unturned to involve the department of tourism in adventure related activities.
He has climbed many peaks like Kolahoi Glacier, Nun Kun and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah said Naseer remained one of the most dedicated officer in the department and was ready for all the assignments given to him for conducting adventure sports in the Valley.
He said Naseer saw the golden day of tourism in Kashmir and had great experience in tourism related activities.
“When I joined the department in 2010, I searched for the persons who really had experience in adventure related activities. Naseer stood out among all. He is not only interested in adventure but also undertook great trekking expeditions,” said Shah.
Shah said many times he had to seek suggestions from Naseer for trekking.
“He knows many routes for trekking. I would sometimes ask him about the routs if we had to send a team for trekking expedition,” said Shah.
Director Tourism Kashmir said department learned many things from Naseer and they would always have high regards for him.
Deputy Director Tourism Riyaz Ahmad was also present on the occasion. He also highlighted the Naseer’s contribution in promoting adventure tourism.
Jammu and Kashmir Mountaineering and Hiking Club members Mouzam Bakshi and Rauf Ahmad Tramboo also highlighted the contribution of the Naseer Ahmad towards tourism promotion especially adventure tourism.
Director Tourism Kashmir also presented Shawl to Naseer on the occasion.
