Srinagar: Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir made his comeback into the team after four year hiates owing to his retirement. Though officially he was part of the match vs New Zealand but was unable to bowl as match got abondoned.

Amir was named in the teamsheet for the first T20I against New Zealand on Thursday, 18 April.

The speedster was announced as a part of the three-pronged fast bowling line-up that included Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah.
In March 2024, Amir announced his decision to come out of retirement, making himself available for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Amir’s return is seen as a significant boost for Pakistan cricket, offering him a chance to add more chapters to his already eventful career.

Meanwhile speaking in a video released by PCB, Amir said that he feels it like his debut series.

“I am making a comeback for Pakistan after almost four years, this is a very special moment for me. This is like my debut series,” Amir said in a video.

Batter Babar Azam also made his comeback as the Pakistan captain in the first T20I against NZ. Babar was sacked from captaincy after the ODI World Cup 2023 in India, but was brought back by the new PCB management who took over in 2024.

“We have a good combination, good opportunity to utilize these matches before the World Cup. We would have bowled first because of the overcast conditions and the pitch was under covers. The first six overs are going to be crucial,” Babar Azam said at the toss.
