There is no threat, Babar Azam will remain captain till he wants: Najam Sethi

Srinagar: Giving total rest to the tumours surrounding fate of Babar Azam as captain of the Pakistan team, PCB Chairman Najam Sethi on Monday said that There is no threat to his captaincy.

Sethi while addressing a press conference in relation to announcing Pakistan squad for Afghanistan  series said Babar Azam himself will decide whether he wants to retain the captain duties or not.

“There is no threat. Our established skipper Babar will remain the captain of our national squad until he himself decides whether he wants to leave captaincy of any one format or all three formats or he wants to remain the captain in all. It will totally be his call,” Sethi said.

“I respect Babar a lot; he is our top star. I am very happy that he supported our decision to try youngsters against Afghanistan”, he added.

Pakistan captain Babar, along with Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi have been rested for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah.
