
Srinagar, May 23: J&K’s international footballer, Mehrajuddin Wadoo, Saturday alleged police personnel of misbehaving with him in his way to meet ailing mother at Srinagar.
A celebrated sports star of Valley said he heard about illness of his mother and wanted to meet her, however, was stopped by police at Budshah Chowk and taken to Police custody.
“This morning received a call abut my mother’s illness. Heard she is very critical . I rushed to see her but was stopped at the budshah chowk bridge and taken to d police custody. Spoke to the police officer Incharge but was what he did and Said was shocking.” Mehrajuddin, who has represented India in several international events, tweeted.

Mehraj went on to say that he was told, ‘if your mother is dying, let her die.’ He further accused police personnel of abusing him.
“If ur mother is dieing let her die. These were the words from the officer Incharge there . Yes to 100% correct why would you care ? But, what abut that constable who started abusing me without any reason? They took my car and my phone. I was not allowed to use my phone for 2hrs.”, He said.

The footballer-turned-coach was though later released, he expressed disappointment with the way situation was dealth by the police. Mehraj, who is also heading State Football Academy (SFA), remaked the Jammu and Kashmir Police should respect public figures for their contribution.
“Finally they did let me make a phone call and I was released. @JmuKmrPolice police have respect to the people like us who have contributed to the state and country for many many years. Some of ur officers are treating people like animals .@ndtv@KVijayKumarIPS @listenshahid,” He wrote in another tweet.

However, the 36-year-old, lastly, deleted the Tweets, saying, “All sorted thank you,”
