Gujarat on Tuesday posted an easy win against J&K senior wome’s team in the Senior Women T20 Trophy at ACA Stadium, Barsapara.
It seemed as if J&K batters had come out to play a Test match with almost none of its batters showing intent to score. Gujarat, on the other side, displayed how exactly T20 cricket works, registering an 8-wicket win with 20 balls to spare.
Batting first, J&K only managed to score a paltry total of 76 runs on board. A lot of focus was on AN Tomar, the guest player, but she couldn’t leave a mark in her first match, making run-a-ball 13.
Opener Shivanti Gupta and Sheerazah Bano played with a strike rate of 46 and 41, respectively, ruling out any possibility of J&K posting a competitive total.
Bushra Ashraf, who had done well last season batting up the order, was sent at number five. She made a slow-looking 15 off 17. For Gujarat, Hiralben and Stuti picked up a wicket each.
In reply, despite AN Tomar, Sandhya and Bismah Hassan’s tight spells, Gujarat chased down the total in 16.4 overs. For them, Bhavani Golpani (31* off 28) and Simran (28* off 39) remained the top-scorers.
