Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly recently said that young gun Yashasvi Jaiswal must be part of India’s squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023.
Impressed by Southpaw’s debut against West Indies, where he scored 171 runs, Ganguly suggested that his presence could strengthen the Indian squad.
Yashasvi had an unreal IPL 2023. He scored consistent runs at a triggering strike rate, earning himself a call-up to the Team India.
He made a mark in his very first innings, notching up a big ton.
“Scoring a hundred on debut is always massive. I too have done it, so I know how special it is. Even technique-wise, he seems really good. A left-handed batsman’s presence in the team always helps. So, having him in the World Cup squad is a must,” Ganguly emphasised.
However, with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill likely to be India’s openers at the World Cup, Yashasvi getting a spot seems tough.
