SMAT20: J&K’s season begins with DEFEAT, Baroda win by 19 runs

Srinagar: J&K Senior Cricket Teams journey in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament started with a defeat against Baroda at Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium, Jaipur on Monday.

In the match, Baroda beat star studded J&K side by 19 runs to start season with a win. J&K side included high profile players like Umran Malik, Abdul Samad, Vivrant Sharma, Yudhvir Singh and Rasikh Salam. Apart from Yudhvir and Rasikh others failed to impress in the opening game of the season.

Batting first, Baroda scored 145 for the loss of five wickets in allotted overs. Krunal Pandya turned out as star performer for Baroda scoring 56 from 48 while as Shivalik Sharma scored 46 from 37. For J&H, Yudhvir Singh took three wickets while as Umran Malik and Rasikh Salam took one each.

In reply, J&K could manage only, 126 for nine in allotted 20 overs. Qamran Iqbal top scored with 37 from 30 and Shubham Khajuria scored 29 from 24. Shubham Pundir scored 14 from 16. For Baroda l, Abhimanyu Singh took four wickets while as Lukman took three.

Amoung other J&Y batters, Samad scored 11 from 10, Fazil remained not on 13 from 9 and Rasikh 3 from  Vibrant could just make 4.

J&K approached chase in outdated fashion and then found  themselves in trouble.
