SMAT: Yudhvir, Umran & Khajuria lead J&K to victory in thriller against Mizoram

Splendid spells by Yudhvir Singh, Umran Malik and a quick fifty by Shubham Khajuria on Wednesday led J&K to a close victory of 7 runns over Mizoram in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Batting first, J&K accumulated a total of 153 runs losing 4 wickets in the process. Skipper Shubham Khajuria finally showed some intent, scoring 28-ball 53 runs.

However, all other batters, especially Henan Malik and Qamran Iqbal didn’t get going at all. They ate a lot of balls, restricting J&K from posting a huge total on a flat deck. Qamran made 28 off 29 while Henan scored 31 off 36.

Shubham Pundir also made struggling 13 off 11. Fazil Rashid gave innings the finishing touch by scoring unbeaten 25 off 16.

In reply, Mizoram didn’t get off to a good start. They lost the wicket in the first over. But Agni Chopra kept them in the hunt, firing 76 off 45.

Lastly, when it seemed to have finished for Mizoram, Vikash Kmr brought them back into the game with a fiery cameo of 15 in 6 balls.

Yudhvir Singh remained the pick of the bowlers with 3-13-3 to his name. Umran Malik also picked up 3 while Nasir Lone chipped in with a wicket too.

It was second win for J&K after losing first four matches on the trot.
