Shoaib Akhtar wants Virat Kohli to retire from T20I’s after MCG heroics vs Pakistan

Srinagar: Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has hailed Virat Kohli and has suggested Team India superstar to retire from T20I’s to concentrate his energy on ODI and Tests.

Virat Kohli played unbelievable inning against Pakistan at MCG in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday. He lead India to a thrilling win against Pakistan, the game that is to be an all time classic.

Hailing Kohli, Shoaib Akhtar has suggested India batter to retire from the shortest format and claimed he could have used the same energy to make 3 ODI centuries.

“He is back with a bang. I want him to retire from T20I because I don’t want that he puts his entire energy in T20I cricket. With similar commitment like today, he can score three centuries in ODIs,” said Akhar on his Youtube channel.

Akhtar also hailed performance of Pakistan team and termed it complete World Cup match.

“Pakistan have done marvelously well. Don’t be down, you all really played well. India did really well… they won one of the best matches in the history. It was a complete World Cup match,” he said.

“It had everything- dropped catch, run-out, no-ball, controversies, stumping,” Akhtar said on his YouTube channel. “World Cup has just started, World Cup begins only when India-Pakistan play and the two teams will face off again. Pakistan will see India again, later in this World Cup,” Akhtar said.

Earlier during Asia Cup 2022, when Virat Kohli scored his first T20I century and ended a three year century draught, former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi had suggested similar thing for Kohli.
Afridi had said that he would like Kohli to bow out on high and it was perfect time for him to do that.
