Srinagar: Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has hailed the Pakistan team’s new approach in Test cricket in the ongoing Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Test series.
The Rawalpindi Express has coined new term for the Pakistan approach , terming it ‘Pakball’ similar to England’s agressive style of play ‘Bazball’.
Meanwhile on the first day of Second Test, Pakistan bowlers produced a fantastic effort to skittle out the hosts for a paltry 166 before the batters dominated the proceedings to take a commanding position in the Test match.
While bowlers did their job by bundling out hosts for 166 run total, it is the batting approach of Pakistan side that has become talk of the town. Everyone seemed impressed with the aggressive style of the Pakistan batters in the ongoing series.
“Is #PakBall becoming a bit of a thing?,” Shoaib Akhtar Tweeted.
Pakistan did lose opener Imam-ul-Haq cheaply on just 6 off 6 balls in the third over of their innings but Shafique and Masood then combined to steady the ship for the hosts. The duo added 108 runs for the second wicket and scored at an impressive pace to continue their attacking approach in the Test match.
While Shafique remained unbeaten on 74 off 99, Masood was dismissed by Asitha Fernando after scoring a quickfire 51 off 47 balls. Skipper Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 8 as Pakistan posted 145/2 inside just 29 overs at stumps, trailing Sri Lanka by only 21 runs.
